Rotary seeks to promote the ideal of service and worldwide fellowship in four basic ways: First... Is it the TRUTH?
Second... Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Third... Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Fourth... Will it be BENEFICIAL to all Concerned?
About Rotary International
At Forked River Rotary, our mission is to provide volunteer opportunities for individuals and groups to give back to their communities and make a positive impact.
The Rotary Club of Forked River is a part of Rotary International, an international organization comprised of more than 1.2 million people that was founded as a service club in 1905. Our particular club was charted in 1973 as club # 5630. We have serviced Lacey and Ocean Townships in Ocean County New Jersey continually for 50 years since our Club’s founding.
We have an average of 40-45 members, including Officers and BOD of Directors, all of which are Rotarians. None are salaried or compensated in any manner for their services. We also have a Club Foundation with officers comprised of Rotarians. Our foundation is a 501 C (3) entity. Annual tax returns for both the Club and the Club’s 501 C (3) foundation are prepared by Certified Public Accountants.
Our members’ efforts raise an average of $50 to $60 thousand dollars annually using several fundraisers. Fundraisers include two annual raffles licensed by the State of New Jersey, the Annual Adopt-A-Flag program, Doggie Derby, and other fundraisers that the Club Board of Directors elect to conduct during each fiscal year.
Fundraiser net income is used exclusively for charitable purposes in our local community and for international projects approved by our District or Rotary International. We donate $20,000 in college scholarships to service-minded high school seniors annually and an average of $18,000 to $22,000 for scarfs, gloves, and Christmas gifts for children of needy families and thanksgiving dinners to local food bank-eligible. We also donate to Rotary’s international project to eradicate polio, to provide clean water, and to provide air-droppable emergency shelter boxes that include a tent and emergency supplies. We donate to local community charities, such as the local student athletic associations, Boys and Girl Scouts, and local charities for mentally disabled individuals, such as Special Olympics and the 21 Plus Foundation.
